✨Vienna, you inspired us! ✨
Our latest Sip & Hogan Practice event took place in the elegant surroundings of Café Landtmann in Vienna, bringing together a fantastic community of Hogan-certified professionals for an evening of learning, exchange, and inspiration.
A highlight of the evening was welcoming Garrett Shaffer, Regional Director at Hogan Assessments, who shared key findings from the The Leadership Divide study. His presentation sparked thoughtful discussions about a challenge many organizations continue to face: the gap between the qualities often rewarded in leadership selection processes and those employees actually value in their leaders.
Garrett Shaffer: The Austrian findings suggest a particularly interesting balance between drive and human connection. Employees want leaders who can bring ambition and curiosity while also communicating with interpersonal sensitivity, and they place importance on belonging, data-based decision making, and creating some enjoyment in the working environment. For me, this highlights that effective leadership is not simply about delivering results, but also about how those results are achieved and experienced by the people being led.
The conversation continued in interactive small-group sessions, where participants explored practical case studies, shared experiences from their own organizations, and discussed how Hogan insights can help address real-world leadership and talent challenges.
One particularly memorable moment came from Susanne Nannsen, whose passion for Hogan Assessments energized the entire room. Drawing on more than 20 years of practical experience, she guided participants through an exclusive deep dive into a Hogan Team Report, offering valuable perspectives and practical takeaways that resonated with both experienced practitioners and newer users alike.
What made the evening special was not only the research and the case studies, but also the openness, curiosity, and willingness to share experiences. These conversations are what make the Sip & Hogan Practice community so valuable.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us in Vienna and contributed their insights, questions, and enthusiasm. We are already looking forward to welcoming you again at a future event.
